WAC 1997 Continued

Zeus from Hercules Friday brought the beginning of the Animation Opportunities Expo. For a lot of the folks who came to the Animation Celebration, this was the main event. Most of the major animation studios were there to recruit artists, from Disney to Dreamworks to HBO Animation. Disney brought all their resources to bear, turning their huge booth into a Greek temple to celebrate their upcoming Hercules animated feature.

Rowland Animation booth Not only studios, but animation schools and professonal groups like Women in Animation appeared. Women In Animation was co-sponsor of the event, and the organization put on 50 seminars about various aspects of the industry for young artists entering the field.

But the biggest lines were for the Warner Bros/Cartoon Network booth. Apparently the studio hadn't been tarnished by the troubled production of Space Jam and still had the luster of the legendary "Termite Terrace" days to most of the young hopefuls present at the event.
