Coincidentally, the WB Studios VIP Tour departs from the same gate you can get the best look at the tower from: Gate 4, where Hollywood Way dead-ends at Olive Avenue. The tour is $5 cheaper than admission to Universal Studios Hollywood ($34 per adult), and is infinitely more revelatory of what a working movie studio really is like from the inside.
The tour includes a look at WB's sound stages, prop shops, recording stages and even live filming if it's happening that day. Because of the fact that the tour goes on in a working studio, children under 10 years of age are not allowed on the tour. Unfortunately one of the only places the tour doesn't go at WB's Burbank Studio is TV and Feature Animation...neither division of Warner Bros. is on the Burbank lot.
The tour also includes access to the Warner Bros. Studio Museum...only people with tour reservations are allowed entrance to the museum, which contains a wealth of WB memorabilia.
Tours run Monday through Friday, and leave at 10 am and 2 pm each day -- WB sometimes schedules more tours during Summer months...call for details. No cameras or tape recorders are allowed, and WB suggests you wear comfortable walking shoes.
Admission: Free to just look at the water tower, $29 per person for the tour. Reservations are required...call (818) 954-1669 to make arrangements.
