Before After

This has been a pop-culture icon in LA for decades. It originally was in front of one of the buildings which housed Jay Ward Productions, the makers of the series as well as the originators of other TV animation favorites like George of the Jungle, Dudley Do-Right, Peabody and Sherman, to name but a few.

The building the statue's standing in front of is now Hollywood Hounds, a "dog spa" and grooming parlor. The owner of Hollywood Hounds and the widow of Jay Ward pooled their resources to restore the statue to its rotating, shiny former glory after years of neglect and disrepair.

As you can see here, they succeeded beyond all expectations. The statue, although not always rotating on its turntable, is beautifully repainted and the body damage has been repaired.

One detail that was not obvious to me at first is very clear now: there is a literal "walk of fame" underneath the statue which bears the signatures of many of the great talents who helped make Bullwinkle and Rocky pop culture icons and "Rocky And His Friends" a true animation classic.

Other points of interest in the area: Sunset Strip, Beverly Hills, Museum of Television and Radio, Planet Hollywood Beverly Hills.

Admission: Free, although I'm sure both your dog and the folks at Hollywood Hounds would love it if you brought it to them for grooming.
