It's A Livin': About the artist

Melody Basham, in her own words:

"I consider myself to be a cartoon nerd...a middle-aged, female cartoon nerd, that is. I usually spend my Saturday nights curled up with a pencil and some drawing paper. Other women tell me that I live a pathetic existence and that I need to get a life. I can only say, 'If I had to choose between cartoon characters and the character you went out with last night, I'd have to pick the cartoon.'

"Social life aside, I am busy with my studies in comedy writing, scriptwriting and animation at the University of Central Florida. I am also developing skills in comedy writing and performing at the All Stars Central Florida Comedy Workshop and in other improvisation courses.

"My comic strip and other humorous writings have appeared in various corporate publications for the past year. Some of these strips were originally titled George And Bert, but since I started adding more characters I thought the title It's A Livin' might work better.

I'm currently writing an episode for a pilot sitcom for local Orlando producer. The episode will begin production in January, and I'll also direct and assist in the production. "Dodge University" is to air next fall for the Central Florida viewing area."
