Dragan Kovacevic's comics

Commentary by Dragan Kovacevic.

"I have been a fan of comics and animation for most of my life, and since early childhood I used to draw sketches of cartoon and comics characters.

"Almost all of my work is done in a non-realistic cartoony style, inspired in equal part by various comics artists of similar genre, and the masters of animation, both of the golden age (Tex Avery, Bob Clampett),and the modern era (in particular John Kricfalusi, Jim Smith, and the rest of the Spumco crew).

"Thematically, it often revolves around science fiction, computers, and science in general (with heavy emphasis on the absurd and silly side of it). Inspiration for lot of this stuff comes from the years spent at the University studying mathematics and electrical engineering (both not particularly succesfully).

Homage to Yogi Bear"Most of my comics are written in collaboration with a good friend of mine who hides under the pseudonym Brady Nagard. My pseudonym is Atari Hammerson, and yes, we both do appear in the comics, together with a whole bunch of other friends (and enemies) which adds an extra level of fun for the small number of initiated people. However, when our work began to attract interest and attention outside our small circle, we decided to take what started as an personal joke to the more serious level and try to make an whole series of short comics (1 to 3 pages usually), and several longer episodes. Some of our works has been already published in Croatia.

"I'm currently preparing several different comics projects, and trying to improve my art with every new page.

"I'm also interested to collaborate with some other comics writers, and pursue various different comics projects, so anybody interested in my works can e-mail me."
